As the European Union looks toward potential new members, critical questions arise about the criteria for accession, fairness in the process, and how to accommodate the diverse needs of existing member states. What does the future hold for potential candidate countries? Is a merit-based accession still realistic? Would an "à la carte" approach be necessary to navigate the diverse political, economic, and cultural realities within the EU? How do opt-outs factor into this complex scenario?
Hosted by the Centre for European Studies at MCC, this event will bring together experts from Türkiye’s Economic Development Foundation (IKV), MCC, prominent Hungarian intellectuals, and other key figures to explore these pressing issues and offer a range of perspectives on the future of EU enlargement.
The event will take place on the 18h of October at 9AM, in the Scruton Café at MCC (1113 Budapest, Tas vezér utca 3-7)
The panels will be in English.
