On 19-20 September 2024, the MCC Center for Constitutional Politics and the Ludovika University of Public Service hosted a significant event titled "Natural Law for Real Life Problems," engaging attendees in the exploration of how natural law principles can address contemporary challenges.

One of the highlights of the event was the keynote lecture delivered by esteemed legal scholar John Finnis, Professor Emeritus of the University of Oxford. In his powerful address, Finnis discussed a range of crucial topics, including problems of the common good and the rule of law, the impact of COVID-19, and the implications of artificial intelligence. He emphasized that a proper understanding of natural law is essential for creating a stable, moral society and must continue to guide us and our communities in navigating today's complexities.

Finnis' address prompted thoughtful discussion from esteemed scholars Paolo Carozza from the University of Notre Dame and a member of Meta's Oversight Board, alongside Veronica Rodriguez Blanco from the University of Surrey. Their insights enriched the conversation, exploring how natural law can inform and shape our responses to various societal issues.

The second keynote was presented by Christopher Tollefsen, who focused on the "Neglected Goods" served by natural law. His insights sparked further discussion among participants, including contributions from Johanna Fröhlich (Ludovika University) and Cristóbal Orrego (Catholic University of Chile), highlighting how natural law can illuminate often overlooked moral and societal values.

Throughout the event, attendees engaged in rich dialogue about the significance of natural law in ethical decision-making and its application in real-life situations. The conversation underscored the continued relevance of philosophical principles in shaping justice, human dignity, and societal norms.
