The guest speaker at the last research seminar of the MCC Center for Constitutional Politics was Johanna Fröhlich, who gave an overview of Latin American constitutional interpretations in connection with her recently published book Constitutional Reasoning in Latin America and the Caribbean. The audience learned about the textual and creative methods of constitutional interpretation used by the constitutional courts of the region and whether there have been any trends in this area. The relationship between the idea of social justice, which is becoming more and more prevalent in the region, and the constitutions was also addressed. In addition, a general overview of constitutional cultures of the Latin American states was given.
