In recent years, Mathias Corvinus Collegium's (MCC) free extracurricular education programs have become increasingly popular among young Hungarians. In particular, there is burgeoning interest in the University Program, with a record number of nearly 200 applicants in the first round of the program's admission procedure. Admissions, however, are still open to students who have just finished their secondary school studies. Six of our training centers, located in Budapest, Debrecen, Győr, Miskolc, Szeged, and Pécs, are still accepting the applications of students who want to join a highly professional, motivational, and cohesive community. The deadline for applications is July 30th for the Junior Program at MCC’s Budapest headquarters and August 10th for our regional centers.
Unique education and talent development programs
MCC’s University Program is a unique and unparalleled initiative which offers personalized, multi-disciplinary training and education that complements conventional higher education study programs. Through its schools and specializations MCC supports students' career paths by providing them with theoretical and practical knowledge. MCC allows young people to pursue their studies based on their own abilities and motivation, regardless of their financial situation. The international outreach of MCC enables Hungarian students to study abroad and use their acquired knowledge in a responsible way, at home, for the benefit of their local and national environment.
MCC regularly invites well-known experts, national international guest lecturers, and speakers to share their expertise and knowledge with their students. In 2022, MCC welcomed over 300 foreign academics and researchers to MCC, around 40 of whom stayed longer and became deeply involved in the training and guidance of students. The Budapest Lectures series, held in Budapest and MCC’s regional centers, offers students the opportunity to regularly meet with some of the world's leading experts. Lectures have included, among others, Jeffrey Sachs, Mark Khater, James Orr, Kei Hakata, David Starkey, Kevin Roberts, and Adrian Vermeule. Through these events, MCC creates opportunities for students to consciously build their career paths and expand their contacts. Since community involvement is another key priority, MCC regularly organizes and plans cultural and recreational programs along with providing quality dormitory accommodation. Once students have completed their Junior Training, MCC provides further opportunities for students to continue their studies in the MCC schools, and further on through our Leadership Academy and other Public and Postgraduate Programs.
Significant expansion
The number of applications to MCC’s University Program has increased recently, with nearly 500 students joining the third cohort of this program. The program is currently available in Budapest, Debrecen, Miskolc, Pécs, Szeged and Győr. MCC’s other training programs are now available in over 24 locations across the Carpathian Basin, with more than 7000 students currently studying with us. In the coming years, our goal is to have 10,000 students participating in MCC programs at 35 training sites.
International scholarships
Under Mathias Corvinus Collegium's international scholarship scheme, around 300 students had the opportunity to study at the world's leading universities or to participate in study trips abroad. Through our Fellowship Program, students have been awarded three-month research fellowships at some of the most prestigious academic and research institutions in Washington D.C., Cape Town, Bologna, Athens, Strasbourg, Warsaw, Jerusalem, Madrid, Lyon, Istanbul and Madrid.
International networking
In order to provide students with the highest quality education, the institution has pursued integration into the international scientific and professional community. In recent years, MCC has created an international network that spans beyond the Carpathian Basin, including a training center in Brussels, a partnership with ESMT Berlin, Germany's highest ranked business-focused school, and acquisition of the Vienna-based Modul University.
Who can apply?
Applications are open to all full-time students who are beginning their first year in the autumn semester of the academic year 2023/2024 at universities in Budapest, Debrecen, Győr, Miskolc, Pécs and Szeged. MCC allows students to unlock their potential regardless of their socio-cultural background, therefore, courses are free of charge for the admitted students.
