Professor Putzke is a German jurist, university lecturer and politician (CSU), Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Passau since 2010 and Adjunct Professor of Criminal Law at the EBS University of Economics and Law in Oestrich-Winkel since 2016. In 2012, he became known to the public as the initiator of the public debate on religiously motivated circumcision. Since 2017, he has been President of the local CSU Passau chapter. In addition, he is a member of the Netzwerk Wissenschaftsfreiheit (Network for Academic Freedom), which sees itself as an initiative against the "cancel-culture". Professor Putzke has given interviews to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and FOCUS, among others; his press appearances can be found here.
